Thankful and Grateful

Completely cliché, right, to talk about being thankful and grateful in the month of November in the US. Not so fast…here at Unboundedlife, we fully embrace forming and maintaining the habit of gratefulness. We say habit, because for many of us it isn’t our default place, or what comes naturally. Like any other good habit (think healthy eating) we have to engage tools and skills and practice them before they become part of our DNA.

So why are we advocates of the of thankfulness? Of gratefulness? It is an excellent, and very inexpensive tool that has dramatic impact on our lives. Gratitude is shown to increase opportunities for collaborations, partnerships and relationships. Science shows us that gratitude improves physical health: grateful people report a lower incidence of pain, tend to their health with more frequency and sleep better. Gratitude is linked to better emotional health and a reduction of aggression. Grateful people experience empathy more frequently, and report a higher level of self-worth. And gratitude is linked with overcoming trauma and reducing stress.

With some of the benefits, join us on a 30 day journey of embracing the habit of thankful and grateful. This is a personal habit, but one you can share with your spouse…makes it more fun…and more likely you will hold to it! You only need a minute or two a day, and you can choose how to engage:

  • Post it on your social media of choice
  • Journal your response
  • Speak it to your partner
  • Put the prompt and your response on your refrigerator or bathroom mirror every day in November

Come on…just do it. And see if you can form this awesome habit this month – to carry into the new year for a fresh start of possibility.
